Socially responsible brewery based on a farm at the foot of the South Downs National Park, Sussex. We feel passionately about our environment and embrace our beautiful, rural location which inspires us to create beer we love and want to share.
Bedlam was established on Albourne Estate winery in 2011 by a group of friends and we were then encouraged by our local community to start brewing commercially in 2015. We have since expanded and moved to our current location. We continue to promote a strong community ethos.
Bedlam was named after Bedlam Street running through Hurstpierpoint to our original site. We are informed that the original Bedlam road runs directly through to our new site, which, if true, would be a crazy coincidence!
Behind the bedlam it’s always a barrel of fun.
At Bedlam we take care of brewing responsibly using Solar Power, finishing the cycle of field-to-firkin-to-fork by feeding the cattle with our spent grain and using hops for compost.
Passion and excellence combine to produce award-winning core and exciting seasonal beers and we’re conscious of using quality ingredients, sourcing locally as much as possible and cutting down on food miles.
It’s the synthesis between the South Downs, the coast and our spirit for life, good times with friends, family and local community that motivate us to create our brews.
Vegan versions of all our beers are available on request.
We have a skilled and passionate team at Bedlam all motivated by our love of the environment, spirit for life and good times shared with friends, family and local community and an inspiration to create quality beer through care and hard work.

Will’s love of beer started from his love of pubs – not only the social side, but the fascination and attraction of the diversity of pub decor and architecture.
Will enjoys cooking and this is reflected in his passion for creating and brewing beer “I’m interested in the attention, love and detail that goes into crafting a good beer. This follows through to the subsequent care and attention required to ensure each pint is served at its best.” Will passed his General Certificate in Brewing last year.
